CONSEW DCS-S4 Industrial Leather Skiving Machine is a specialized production machine designed to reduce, taper, bevel, or remove thickness from the backside and edges of leather, artificial leather, vinyl, and comparable flexible materials.
Unlike an industrial sewing machine, the DCS-S4 does not use a needle, hook, bobbin, or sewing thread. Material is passed between the presser-foot assembly and feed roller while a rotating Fortuna-type bell knife precisely removes material to achieve the required thickness or edge profile.
The machine provides a maximum skiving width of 2 inches (50 mm) and operates at a factory-rated maximum cutting speed of 1,100 RPM, depending on material and operation. Its applications include preparation of components for leather bags, footwear uppers, wallets, belts, watch straps, upholstery buttons, leather accessories, and other products where reduced seam bulk or controlled edge thickness is required.
The DCS-S4 incorporates a dedicated knife-sharpening mechanism with a separate clutch, allowing the operator to engage the sharpening system independently. Consew states that this arrangement helps extend the useful life of both the bell knife and sharpening stone. It also includes a waste-removal arrangement, with an optional Clinton Industries Model 2505 Waste Removal System available for production environments requiring improved scrap collection.
